It’s super weird that the Pirates aren’t playing today. They used to play double headers on the 4th, and this year for some reason they don’t play at all.

The Youth Movement Won’t Stop, Even if Veterans Slow it Slightly
This team isn’t by any stretch of the imagination a finished product. They haven’t fully moved on to youth, nor have they entirely decided that veterans have no place. When the team brings up players from the IL this week, it’s gong to come at the expense of young players.

OK, so now that Cruz is here, the major first wave of youth has made it’s way to Pittsburgh and while there will likely still be more debuts to look forward to, the initial lurch toward youth has been accomplished.

The Best the Pirates Have to Offer in 2022?
It’s late June, and bluntly, the Pirates have already called up more players than I thought they would at this point. I mean, everyone they’ve called up so far was on my list of possible promotions, but not already.
Walk the Line: Giving Kids Playing Time VS Results
Getting the kids up to the major league level is arguably the most exciting and painful part of any rebuild, both at the same time. A rebuilding team needs to see the kids play, but playing a ton of kids is also rarely going to lead to good things for the overall club.
Oneil Cruz is Still a Prospect
Open your mind, and lets move forward together as fans of this club and allow ourselves to follow a prospect without worrying about who was right or who was wrong. What was moral and what wasn’t. Let’s just watch this supremely talented kid come up here and play baseball.

Ugly moments like that, yup, gonna happen. There will be nice moments too, and while those tend to be easier to forget when the overall picture is gross, I still tend to enjoy them, as I’m sure most of you do.
