The Great, We Hope, Unknown
Somewhere during 2021, Ke’Bryan Hayes went from a nailed on superstar to a guy few are even discussing when talking about 2022.
Evidence of the Pirates Build Progressing is All in the Numbers
So very much of this game is built around numbers. There are averages, win totals, ERA’s, hell there are even prospect rankings and each position is given a number. Baseball is in its purest sense, all about numbers.
Five Pirates Thoughts at Five
The baseball world is quiet, deafening even. Nobody has put forward any ideas, both sides feel like this is their moment in time, and the longer it goes without starting to hear ideas, concessions, or even just angry vitriol, the more likely this process costs games.

It’s not Travis Williams or Ben Cherington’s fault this team has a damaged reputation, but it is their job to fix it. Maybe that’s an impossible effort with their owner, I mean they could hand out $100 bills in Market Square and have people ask how much it was in total and list off the players they could afford to bring in with the cash.
Let’s Deep Dive on the Pirates Outfield Situation
The Pirates have more questions than answers as we wait for 2022 to start, but I think when looking position by position you start to see some conversations change from last year to the next.
