Ugly moments like that, yup, gonna happen. There will be nice moments too, and while those tend to be easier to forget when the overall picture is gross, I still tend to enjoy them, as I’m sure most of you do.

It was never about identifying a few guys and claiming everything would change when they got here, instead it was about identifying that there were simply too many guys timing up that the team wouldn’t find at least a few who made it up here and started changing everything.

The Pirates are out on a West Coast trip and sometimes that means things slip through the cracks, other times, it means fans have nothing but the “news” to pay attention to and that creates a narrative all it’s own.

As we sit here on the day after a historic victory while being no hit, and take a quick look at the Pirates record of 15-19, it’s probably fair to say, nobody has predicted everything they’d see with any real accuracy.

Have a great week everyone, and don’t watch the Pirates get beaten to hell by the Dodgers, watch the Pirates try like hell to go toe to toe with a team they know they have no business beating. I’m following the Buccos from all the way out in Los Angeles this week, and sometimes listening to the buzz of baseball in a very successful city, well, it lends you some perspective.

Live from New York, its, well, the Five Thoughts at Five. I’ve been sent into enemy territory for work and I still have Pirates thoughts. Let’s do this.

Yes, I know we’re in the middle of game time but Five Thoughts at Six-Fifteen doesn’t sound right.

Opening day is finally right there in our grasp, and while this offseason has been an emotional roller coaster for the entire league, let alone our local franchise, there will always be something about everyone being 0-0 that makes this event feel special.
